The provision of significant local community benefits is central to WWCE’s vision. We were pleased to launch the WWCE Community Fund at the 2017 Annual General Meeting.
We have now paid a total of £45,000 into the Community Fund, which is administered by Wiltshire Wildlife Trust (WWT) and by a Community Fund Group (CFG) which has been charged to set up a grant scheme. The CFG includes people nominated by the Board of WWCE, others drawn directly from members of WWCE and one person nominated by WWT. Criteria for eligible projects supported through the community fund include wildlife conservation, climate change mitigation, carbon reduction (including local food, transport, waste projects etc) and reducing fuel poverty.
The Community Fund has made its first two grants. They awarded £4,750 to Wiltshire Scrapstore to help in developing an educational space for children and families so that they can learn how to reduce their impact on the environment; and they gave £500 to an allotment association in Trowbridge for re-lining a wildlife pond.
The January Community Fund Meeting decided to encourage applications for smaller grants from the Fund. If you have a scheme which is looking for less than £500 we will have a separate form for you to fill in. You will be able to download this form and all other information from our website and from the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust website shortly. Grants aim to support wildlife conservation, climate change mitigation, carbon reduction and reducing fuel poverty. The Community Fund trustees would like to thank those members who have allocated their share interest to the Community Fund, if you are one of those people but you received a direct payment, please let us know and we will ensure that the Fund receives future interest payments.
To apply for a grant from the Community Fund please use the Community Fund Application Form , and refer to the Application Guide please note that this is still the form for £500 and over applications. The new form will be added soon.
