500kW rooftop solar array

Formed in 2020, Silverwood School is a co-educational school for children and young people aged 4-19 years set across three campuses in Rowde (near Devizes), Trowbridge and Chippenham.

As part of a wider redevelopment, the school gained planning approval for a new classroom block and associated facilities to cater for up to 400 students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) at its Rowde campus.

WWCE is partnering with the school to fund the construction of a 521kW rooftop solar array. In doing so, the school will benefit from a free installation and will be able to purchase clean energy at a discounted rate going forward.

The solar panels will not only generate green electricity but also export surplus power to the local grid. Additionally, they are expected to generate £5,000 per year to support biodiversity and environmental education initiatives in partnership with the school.
